“The Pick Up” is one of Wright’s understated works or literature, meaning, that though the story does not take the reader on an adventure of either environment or emotion, she crams in subtle themes and the tiny complexities of the human condition.
Wright, though not directly, establishes an awkward encounter between a mother, daughter and granddaughter as a bubbly and social woman meets her introverted daughter to pick up her granddaughter. Wright allows the reader to garner the extremes in personality of her female characters in the 436 word story. “The Pick Up” quietly explores themes of family, difference and exchange.
Later this month, Wright is hosting an art show inspired by the study of Physics. The art show is titled, Kobiphysics:
Wright is a California native who earned her degree in Communications from CSUF. She has created several art series, including, “Fractured,”
