Now in its sixth year, the program is an innovative and resourceful tool that mentors students in the art world. Students are encouraged to express themselves artistically and learn the process of exhibiting. The uniqueness of Cottonwood Art Festival’s Emerging Artists program is that it is only available to high school and college art students. Interested students are required to develop an art concept, an artist statement and produce images of their work. This portfolio was submitted to their teacher for review and then sent in for jury to Cottonwood Art Festival.
Neighborhood Credit Union in Richardson sponsors this outreach program. A reception is given to honor those students and their talents. During this reception, awards and scholarship money are presented.
Now in its 44th year, the Cottonwood Art Festival is the premier fine arts event in North Texas. The festival has extended its hours and is set for 10 AM – 8 PM Saturday and 10 AM - 6 PM Sunday, May 5-6, 2012, at Cottonwood Park, 1321 W. Beltline Rd., in Richardson, TX 75080.
