Ostrofe Financial Consultants, Inc. hosts youth financial literacy expert to Grass Valley, April 27

PRLog (Press Release) - Apr. 17, 2012 - (GRASS VALLEY, Calif.) – Allen Ostrofe, president of Grass Valley-based Ostrofe Financial Consultants, Inc. and former professor of financial planning and long-term investing, is a firm believer in the premise that the earlier young people learn solid financial lessons, the better their financial journeys will be.  

On April 27, during national financial literacy month, Ostrofe will bring Vince Shorb, of the National Financial Educator’s Council, to several Nevada County high schools to address students about starting out life on firm financial footing. Shorb, who previously spoke to students at Bear River and Nevada Union High Schools in 2010, will share practical ways for developing responsible financial habits.

In the evening, Shorb will be the keynote speaker at a free, open-to-the-public dinner seminar designed to help parents and grandparents make informed decisions when formulating college, estate and legacy financial plans for their families.

“I am committed to helping people, both young and old, become better educated about their finances,” said Ostrofe. “By sharing information, we hope to empower people and provide them with the financial skills they need to improve their lives and the lives of those they love.”

Ostrofe, whose professional team has provided financial planning advisory services to individuals and businesses for more than 28 years, has long been committed to educating people about finance. A regular columnist in Grass Valley area newspapers, he frequently shares insights about a variety of financial topics including estate planning, tax mitigation and good financial parenting skills.

The open-to-the-public financial literacy event will take place on April 27, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Holbrooke Hotel, 212 W. Main St.  The event will feature both Vince Shorb and Michael Fronk, an investment advisor with Ostrofe Financial, who will discuss the value of 529 college savings plans and how best to utilize the Uniform Transfers to Minors Act. There is no cost to attend but space is limited and reservations are required by April 23.
