April 17, 2012 - PRLog -- CLEARWATER, FL-- Men have been telling their wives for years about the amazing restorative powers of a round of golf with friends. Well, with the help of the Healing Heroes Network, they have quite a bit of support to back up their claim.

Healing Heroes Network (HHN) is proud to announce the annual "Golfing For Heroes" charity golf tournament to benefit the wounded warriors of HHN. This year the tournament, sponsored by the 13 Ugly Men Foundation, will be held at Countryside Country Club's beautiful Bay and Lake courses on Sunday, April 22, 2012. Along with amazing prizes for the first, second, and third winning foursomes; participants will get to enjoy prizes for contests like 'Closest to the Pin', 'Longest Drive,' and a ‘Hole-In-1 Kia Optima’ provided by Friendly Kia!

All the proceeds from the tournament will go to the 501c3 non-profit Healing Heroes Network to serve in their mission of providing financial assistance to veterans injured in Iraq or Afghanistan since September 11, 2001.

"We are so excited for the tournament this year,” said Stacey Spiegel, Executive Director of Healing Heroes Network. “Some of the local veterans we have assisted will be at the event. We think it’s very important for people to see what their generous donations provide and the difference it makes for our injured military members and their families.”

Golfers of all ages and abilities are able to sign up for the tournament and get more information online at http://www.golfingforheroes.com. Check-in for the tournament begins at 10:30am on April 22nd, with a shotgun start at 12:00pm. Admiral Farragut NROTC will be presenting the colors and PGA Professional Todd Keirstead will be on hand for a special performance with 8 year-old "HHN Community Hero” Patrick F. of Eastlake Woodlands. Catered dinner at Countryside Country Club, sponsored by Hero's Hope, will be served immediately following the tournament and is included in the entry fee. Non-golfers are eligible to enter the raffles, and additional dinner tickets may be purchased for $35 a person.

After the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, and the subsequent war on terror, thousands of members of our armed forces have been injured in Iraq and Afghanistan. Often these men and women are unable to receive the treatments that would facilitate their return to a productive civilian life. While the Department of Veteran Affairs provides treatment to these troops, the scope of covered services is limited, sometimes unavailable, and often delayed.

Healing Heroes Network was founded in 2008 by Dr. Allan Spiegel and his wife Stacey in order to fill these gaps. Healing Heroes Network, a 501(c)3 charitable organization, was formed with a network of caring providers throughout the United States to facilitate the treatment process. Healing Heroes Network provides financial assistance for those desperately needed therapies and services.
