April 17, 2012 - PRLog -- On the 22nd of April, 2012, Adventure Club Jomardi is opening rafting season 2012 in Georgia, Caucasus. The season's first rafting trip will be conducted on the Aragvi near Pasanauri. Jomardi, the pioneer of commercial white-water rafting in Georgia, offers different rafting trips with various difficulty levels, namely on the rivers of Aragvi, Mtkvari and Rioni.

Rafting season in Georgia lasts from the end of April till the beginning of October. Georgian rivers provide good opportunities for this activity. Organised white-water rafting was introduced in Georgia by Adventure Club Jomardi. This is an incoming tour operator that started operation initially with rafting in 2003. Name of the company is symbolic and responds to its initial focus: ‘jomardi’ literally means ‘rafter’ in old Georgian language. Upon passing time, the company broadened in scope and currently provides biking, trekking, horse-riding, Jeep and cultural tours, online booking of hotels and guesthouses throughout Georgia and highlights sustainable tourism.

The rafting tours vary in length and difficulty, adjusting demands of beginner, amateur and professional rafters.

The biggest demand is on the Aragvi River as it is close to the capital Tbilisi. There are two rafting options on the Aragvi: on Pshavi’s Aragvi and on Mtiuleti’s Aragvi with difficulty rates 2-3. If the travellers choose the Mtkvari, they are offered following itineraries: Mtkvari at Vardzia (1.Mirashkhani-Tmogvi Castle; 2.Vardzia-Vil. Pia; 3.Khertvisi-Aspindza) or Mtkvari at Borjomi (1.Vil. Kvabiskhevi-Borjomi; 2.Chitakhevi-Borjomi), the tours have difficulty indicators of 2-4. Rafting on the Rioni requires two days and there are two options to choose: 1.Oni-Ambrolauri and 2.Tvishi Gorge. This river is more difficult than the Aragvi and the Mtkvari.

Full information is provided at the link: http://www.jomardi.ge.

The rafting trips are conducted by rafting boats accommodating 6 persons and an instructor. Each trip is preceded with training that is held by the instructors. They teach the travellers how to paddle, how to wear rafting equipment. Rafting jackets, helmets, shoes and oars are provided for the trip.

During the trip the instructors arrange challenging competitions that make the tour hilarious and involving. After the trip picnic is arranged by the river. The day ends by a short excursion in the beautiful surroundings. Due to Georgia’s richness in cultural and historical sites, rafting tours can be combined with cultural visits.

These short tours are especially appealing to those who spend hot summer days in the capital. The few hours spent in rafting fills the body with new energy and let you be stay in line with your business at the same time.
