The survey will collect the names of individuals, businesses and civic leaders that have in some significant way helped advance equality for all Texans, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity/expression, during the last year.
"We want to actively involve as many Texans as possible in this statewide nomination process," explained Dennis Coleman, Executive Director of Equality Texas. "Texas is a big place, so to ensure that we've heard from as many folks as possible, we're fully leveraging the power of the world wide web."
Each site visitor will be able to nominate one individual, one company, and civic leader. The nomination process will continue through the end of the month. Equality Texas will announce the winners in mid-May. The Ally Awards ceremony will take place on Friday, June 22, 2012, at 8:00 p.m. at the Vendome in Dallas. Tickets to attend the event are $75-$125 and available for purchase at https://hq-equalityfederation.salsalabs.com/
