Confreda Greenhouses & Farms has refurbished their café and bakery, and plans even more expansion with the help of Bacaro. When the Confreda’s Farmers Market and café/bakery opens in May, customers will be able to sit in the newly renovated café area and enjoy fresh artisan coffee, pastries, lunch entrees, and even gelato! The new café menu will feature artisanal salads with homemade vinaigrette, gourmet soups, and delicacies like specialty meats, cheeses, and olives. In addition to the high-quality standard fare from Boar’s Head, the delicatessen will offer sandwiches designed by Bacaro, including grilled sandwiches from Confreda’s new panini press. Wendy Vietro, the pastry chef at Bacaro, will work directly with Confreda to produce fresh-baked croissants (chocolate and butter), cinnamon rolls, muffins, cakes, muffins, and more. All of the menu offerings will be seasonal, featuring produce and herbs that can be found right in the Confreda “backyard”—
General Manager Raymond Aubin believes that this partnership fulfills a long-held dream of the Confreda family. “It’s bringing food and farming full circle,” he says, “this partnership is all about two local businesses working together to build a café that is entirely based on local cuisine. People will be able to ‘eat local’ right here on the farm, while enjoying the gourmet experience of the city. We’re very excited about the possibilities here—this is just the beginning.” The first taste of this delicious partnership will be available at the Grand Opening of the Confreda Greenhouses & Farms Farmers Market. Confreda’s will be celebrating their 90th Anniversary with a VIP event on Friday, May 4, a public Grand Opening on Saturday, May 5th at 9am, and a weekend of samples, door prizes, and FUN for local foodies and families.
