By: Carol Jenkins It is being demonstrated for the first time in public this week at the BAPCO 2012 exhibition – as part of a project by the Association of Chief Police Officers in conjunction with Vauxhall Special Vehicles. Checkpoint. S has been selected by ACPO as part of what it is called a ‘one box concept for 2015’. This will involve it showcasing future technology for police cars. The technology will be installed as a face recognition sensor that could be linked to the Police National Database (PND). ACPO Chief Supt Jim Hammond said: “This technology has the potential to mirror ANPR cameras but for people.” Stewart Hefferman, CEO of OmniPerception said: “We are delighted to have been selected as one of the cutting edge technologies that are in as future in crime preventing and policing. We are looking forward to working closely with Vauxhall Special Vehicles to seeing Checkpoint.S in active service in future.
