Christine Horn is an American actress of the stage and screen that splits her time between Los Angeles and Atlanta. She has appeared in a lengthy list of regional theatre and feature films, including the Broadway, Las Vegas and national tours of Disney’s “The Lion King”. Christine is also a noted singer/songwriter who has released two CDs on iTunes and is currently working on a new project. She believes in creating her own opportunities.
“I love watching cooking shows but I noticed that major networks were missing a show dedicated to the vegan lifestyle. I felt an obligation to fill that void.”
Christine created her blog Wingstoweeds.com in 2011 to share her passion for food and her journey into to a vegan diet. The website offers an honest and open look into her transition and offers tips for vegan recipes, cookbooks and helpful videos. With Wingstoweeds.com, Christine isn’t attempting to turn you into a vegan, but rather, she’s providing you with pertinent information of living and eating healthy.
“My goal is to help people add more vegetables to their plates and more years onto their lives,” Horn says. “My sole purpose isn’t to convert everyone to veganism. However, I want to squash the misconception that all things healthy are flavorless and boring.”
Christine is also fully aware with the health problems in the African-American community, and she seeks to give back through providing them with information of proper nutrition and dieting.
“With obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer and diabetes affecting African-Americans at an all-time high, I feel obligated to share what I’ve learned about the benefits of incorporating more plant-based foods in our diets.” She says. “Yes, some of our health issues are genetic, but most of them can be cured with proper diet, exercise and nutrition.”
“Wings to Weeds” currently airs on http://www.wingstoweeds.com and on the YouTube channel wingtoweeds. Several episodes are posted each week.
