April 14, 2012 - PRLog -- MALVERN, AR— With great courage, compassion and candor, three women share with us their harrowing and heroic stories of the life as an animal rescuer in the South. We learn in intimate detail what tragedies and travesties these rescuers face when dealing with a culture that does not hold animals in high regard.

The abuse and neglect is rampant and the problem continues to worsen as sterilization is not widely accepted or sought and the animals continue to procreate.  We also learn from their years of experience and insight that laws have not been instituted or enforced to alleviate the problem and the abuse and neglect continues unabated.

Judy & Richard Walters, Beverly & JD Lambert and Delia & Ralph Rubschlager spend every waking hour working with the animals they can save while trying to educate and provide spay and neuter assistance to people in central Arkansas where they live. Their trials and tribulations are documented throughout each of these stories along with the heartwarming moments when a dog overcomes a life threatening injury, finds a new loving home or has its first real meal in days, weeks or months.

Despite their ongoing and tireless efforts, their contribution to the solution is a small one given the enormity of the problem. They felt compelled to share their reality of the problem that exists in the hope that enough people will learn the truth and be outraged enough to take action.

All book proceeds will go to funding the Paws & Claws Low Cost Spay/Neuter vouchers that they provide within the local communities in order to uphold their mission of reducing pet overpopulation, neglect and abuse.  The book is $18 plus $2 shipping for a total of $20.  Books can be purchased online at the Paws and Claws website at www.pawsandclawsrescue.org
