Follow on Google News | Venice Area Mobile Meals, Inc. Faces Summertime Shortage of VolunteersTransportation Officer Peter Norrman reports on the forecasted need for volunteers to support the mobile meals program in the Greater Venice FL area.
By: Public Relations Drivers deliver from 7 to 15 meals between the hours of 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on one scheduled day each week, Monday thru Saturday. Substitute Drivers are on hand to step in when a regular Driver is unable to perform due to illness or vacation. Office Managers help to set up the Meal distribution system on one scheduled day each week, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., Monday thru Saturday. Data Entry Volunteers typically assist on the computer to update our information database and work for a few hours once or twice weekly. Every Volunteer is important to our Venice operation. Venice Area Mobile Meals, Inc. is a fiscally responsible, 501(c)(3) non-profit, all volunteer organization in their 43rd year of operation. It provides a “Meals on Wheels” community service to the Greater Venice, FL area to anyone unable to prepare a meal due to mental or physical disability, regardless of age or financial situation, 6 days a week, 52 weeks a year, holidays included. The organization presently delivers an average of 165 meals a day, with the help of about 200 volunteers, each providing a few hours of their time each week. End
