“We love the dual-function nature of the NYX™, and it's certainly a slick, stylish design,” writes Gizmag in its just-released review. The NYX™ first wowed the public with the debut of a prototype at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market in January. Because of its breakthrough design, it’s expected to draw interest from campers, outdoor enthusiasts and the military Special Forces.
"To keep the weight down we turned to strong yet lightweight materials, like carbon fiber and CTF3 (also known as cuben fiber). CTF3 is an ultralight but durable fabric found in sailcloth and some of the market's lightest tents and backpacks,” says Kristen Alvarez, founder of Terra Strenua Outfitters. The cot design also uses a patent-pending carbon fiber leaf spring bow to create tension and support the product. "It is the perfect blend of comfort, multifunctionality and durability—a value proposition hard to find in alternatives such as sleeping pads or other cot systems on the market."
