April 12, 2012 - PRLog -- Today, Access, the number one provider of electronic forms management, automation and workflow solutions to hospitals and health systems that use MEDITECH systems, announced that it is the latest sponsor of MEDITECH Connect.

Since its creation, MEDITECH Connect has grown rapidly and now brings more than 2,000 healthcare professionals who use MEDITECH together with vendors who provide solutions and consulting services that can help them get more from their MEDITECH applications, including Magic, Client Server and 6.0.

“We’re proud to support MEDITECH Connect, which is providing a great service to hospitals that want to improve patient care and safety and cut costs,” said Access founder and CEO Tim Elliott. “It gives us the chance to interact with current customers and to offer guidance to others looking to move away from pre-printed paper forms and to combine the benefits of their MEDITECH and an e-forms solution.”

Dozens of MEDITECH facilities in the U.S. and Canada have successfully integrated Access solutions with MEDITECH. Access’s e-forms on demand solution, Access Intelligent Forms Suite, creates patient forms packets directly from MEDITECH screens, with patient data pre-filled and barcodes applied. Upon completion, the forms are scanned into MEDITECH Scanning & Archiving (SCA), which uses the barcodes to automatically associate the forms with the correct patient’s electronic medical record (EMR). Alternatively, patients authorize e-forms with secure electronic signatures, and the forms are then sent directly into MEDITECH SCA without any paper output, scanning or indexing.

Hospitals and health systems can also benefit from Access’s clinical data bridge solution, Access Universal Document Portal, which captures COLD feeds and other output from clinical devices and systems (including ECG/EKG traces, fetal monitoring strips, surgical photos and perinatal documents), and interfaces them directly into MEDITECH SCA – no paper or manual indexing.

As part of its MEDITECH Connect partnership, Access created a discussion group (accessible from the main page), which enables users who join it to discuss e-forms barcoding, getting clinical output into MEDITECH SCA, and other pertinent topics. Access is also hosting MEDITECH-focused webinars for MEDITECH Connect members ([membership is free). The first of these, Electronic Forms Management: Getting Control of Your Paper & Preparing for MEDITECH Scanning & Archiving/ECM, will take place on Friday, April 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Central Time)
