Sears’ Heroes at Home program plans to complete more than 150 projects throughout the country this spring, and to-date has raised more than $15 million to help veterans and their families live in viable and safe homes. Rebuilding Together has completed more than 1,100 rebuilding projects for veterans across the country.
WHEN:
WHO: Rebuilding Together Howard County is an affiliate of Rebuilding Together, the nation’s leading nonprofit working to preserve affordable home ownership by revitalizing communities nationwide. Rebuilding Together Howard County and Sears Holdings and will work together with 85 volunteers to engage local community members and businesses to impact:
• A veteran of the United States Army, a single mother of 3, she worked nights to get her teaching degree and can only find a part time position. Her income is not enough to afford home repairs. Repairs that will provide a safer environment for her children to include replacing her patio door, fixing railings, sinks, vanities and purchasing smoke detectors.
• Widow of United States Army veteran is in need of a new porch railing. Unfortunately, the porch railing repair did not come fast enough because the widow slipped off the porch and broke her arm. The new porch railing will ensure this accident does not happen again.
WHERE: Rebuilding Together Howard County will be working in at 6592 Sweet Fern, Columbia, Maryland and 8058 Harriet Tubman Lane, Simpsonville, Maryland.
