Follow on Google News | Dulé Hill Set to Star in Short Film “Nostalgia” This SummerEmmy-nominated Actor and Dancer Wraps Filming of Debut Movie About Tap Dancing by Johnnie Hobbs, III
By: Pivotal PR Written and directed by Hobbs and Jason Messina, the film tells the story of a living legend as he struggles to hold onto his music and his muse, despite the fervent opposition of his loving son (Hill). Punctuated by vivid musical memories, the aging tap dancer recalls the glorious and regretful life he lived both onstage and off, with a message not about dreams deferred, but dreams derailed. Starring Philadelphia stage legend Johnnie Hobbs, Jr. (“Rocky Balboa,” “Up Close & Personal,” “Twelve Monkeys”), the cast includes an array of dance-world upstarts. Chloe Arnold, who has worked alongside Debbie Allen, Savion Glover, and as Beyonce’s music video body double, recently appeared on the cover of Dance Teacher Magazine and is featured in the hit documentary “Tap Dreams.” Emmy-winning choreographer Jason Samuels Smith, a recipient of the Gregory Hines Humanitariun Award, has appeared in lead roles in “Bring in Da Noise, Bring in Da Funk” and in solo spots on recent seasons of “So You Think You Can Dance” and “Dancing with the Stars.” In addition, Smith created the First Annual Los Angeles Tap Festival in 2003 and is the creator and designer of his own successful, self-titled professional tap shoe sold exclusively by BLOCH. Rounding out the cast is well-known tap industry insider Sarah Reich, named one of the “20 Hot Tappers Under 20” by Dance Spirit Magazine. The producing team of Hobbs and Hill are joined by Dustin Felder, a go-to Hollywood acting coach for the likes of Will Smith, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and Common.
