One Acupuncturist may be "earthy-crunchy,"
Community acupuncture clinics began popping up around the country over the last decade. Community or Open-Room (as I've coined the phrase) Acupuncture is a less-expensive form of acupuncture, usually offered on a sliding-fee basis, sometimes done on a walk-in basis where patients simply show-up during office hours, find an open chair or table, take their shoes and socks off, fill-out a simple form and with a brief exchange, the acupuncturist figures out what treatment should be done and does it. The total time in and out the door is usually around 35-40 minutes vs. the 1 hour for a private session. There are obvious limitations with community or open-room sessions vs. private sessions, for instance, some people have very personal issues underlying their health problems which cannot be discussed in the presence of anyone other than their healthcare practitioner.
The beauty of the two systems is that at New England Natural Health Services, most Patients are given choices. They can be a private patient, an open-room patient or both. For private patients, they can receive acupuncture or one of the newer systems of medicine, Neurolink or Neuro-Emotional Technique or even color-puncture, the use of colored light (and often, essential oils) to stimulate acupuncture points. When the body or a system in the body can function normally, healing may occur. The key is identifying what needs to be removed, what needs to be restored and what needs supplementation. Do it and time and again, people get well.
