After Major Accident Photographer Starts Nontraditional Studio In Huntington Beach

April 10, 2012 - PRLog -- In July of 2011 Melody Smith was struck by a car while riding her bike on PCH, in Huntington Beach, debilitating her for five months. After the long road to recovery this eight year veteran of the photography industry, and Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) graduate, decided to venture out on her own into the world of fine art portrait photography.

The idea for a new nontraditional studio was formed. A Shutter in Time Photography is an alternative to the traditional photography studio. The idea is simple; bring the professional studio to the client. The fast paced Southern California lifestyle can make it hard to find time to travel to a studio miles from home. This mobile on-site alternative seemed to be the perfect solution.

In January of 2012 Melody and her business partner Jeremy Telck registered the domain name www.AShutterinTimePhotography.com. In the spring of 2012 the site went live and they began to book clients. This fresh take on the norm seems to be welcomed by Orange County residents. The ease of having a professional set-up in one’s own home creates a peaceful, relaxing setting for the subject(s) being photographed.  For example the mobile studio relieves the stress of getting everyone ready and out of the house in time for the studio appointment.

Melody explains how this idea was born. "After my accident I had a lot of time to think about what I was going to do next. I knew it was hard for people to make it to the various studios I had previously worked for. The number of cancelations or re-schedules due to everyday problems was astonishing to say the least. I just thought 'Why don't I just go to them?'  So here we are."

This simple business plan keeps overhead to a minimum allowing Orange County's residents to get affordable professional portrait photography. People are looking everywhere for savings in these down economic times, and A Shutter in Time Photography is hoping to help. Melody adds, "We see this as a way to get people fine art photography at a reasonable price. We cater to all types of sessions like pregnancy portraits, family portrait photography, newborn portraits, weddings and engagement portraits and even your four legged family members."
