PRLog - April 9, 2012 - LOS ANGELES -- Stan Stahl Ph.D, president of the Los Angeles chapter of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA-LA) was the featured speaker at the Breakfast Club, which is a club within the prestigious Jonathan Club located in downtown Los Angeles. He addressed the audience of more than 100 prominent business leaders on the proliferation of cybercrime, including Internet banking fraud, highlighting ISSA-LA’s upcoming 4th Annual Information Security Summit.

Dr. Stahl emphasized to attendees the particular challenges all commercial organizations have with the rampant growth of online bank fraud and discussed basic steps an organization can take to lower its risk of being a victim. He described ISSA-LA’s work with financial institutions, helping them educate their customers about the dangers of online bank fraud and the steps customers can take to more effectively secure their online banking.
Dr. Stahl also discussed the cyber security challenges of nonprofits that often have significant information at risk with inadequate knowledge and resources to properly manage their risk. He exhorted attendees—many of whom sit on nonprofit Boards—to take an active part in ensuring nonprofits get the resources they need to get their arms around this growing challenge.
Dr. Stahl invited attendees to attend ISSA-LA’s 4th Annual Information Security Summit, being held May 16th in Universal City. The Summit features a special Executive Session for business leaders that includes Keynote Addresses by Forbes columnist and security guru, Alan Paller, and Executive Coach, Chris Coffey.

About Stan Stahl, Ph.D.
Dr. Stahl has been President of ISSA-LA since 2008 and is the architect of the Chapter’s Community Outreach Program. He is also the founder and president of Citadel Information Group, Inc., an information security management firm. Dr. Stahl is a pioneer in the field of information security, entering the field in 1980. He began his career securing teleconferencing at the White House, databases inside Cheyenne Mountain and the communications network controlling our nuclear weapons arsenal. Dr. Stahl earned his Ph.D. in mathematics from The University of Michigan and spent nearly 15 years teaching university mathematics.
