Oceanside Chamber Members Speak out Regarding Proposed Signage Restrictions

The Oceanside Chamber has taken a leadership role against the proposed sign ordinance amendment from the city which would limit or completely ban the use of certain types of signage at local businesses.

April 9, 2012 - PRLog -- OCEANSIDE -- While the City of Oceanside is reviewing possible changes to its sign ordinance that would limit or ban the use of certain types of signage at local businesses, the Oceanside Chamber has taken a leadership role in the issue to make sure the business community takes a stance.

In a recent survey conducted by the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce, Chamber members expressed strong support for the continued use of feather signs and sign twirlers and mascots to promote Oceanside businesses.

Over 94% of respondents said that business should continue to have the freedom to use sign twirlers and mascots and 93% support the continued use of feather signs.

"In this difficult economic time we must remember that it is the business community that will provide the basis for recovery. We must continue to allow our city’s businesses to promote themselves and the community”, said David Nydegger, President and CEO of the Oceanside Chamber.

In addition to the member survey, the sign ordnance issue was also discussed at the Chamber’s Public Policy Committee and Board of Directors Meetings.

The Chamber plans to appear before City Council to present its position on this issue.  For more information about the Oceanside Chamber, visit http://www.OceansideChamber.com.
