The weekend of festivities begins at 5 p.m. Friday April 20 with a Latin Music Walk throughout the streets of the downtown River District. Local dancers Nery Garcia and Giana Montoya, owners of Elegant Rumba, have choreographed a special street performance as part of the Friday night fun, and a Welcome Party featuring former Copa Cabana DJ Sammy Rodriquez will start at 10 p.m. at the Sidney Berne Davis Art Center.
A daylong dance extravaganza will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Harborside Event Center, with the public and local dancers invited to attend workshops that include "Intro to Ballroom" a two-hour workshop presented by the Fred Astaire Dance Team, watch star studded stellar performances, and sample Latin food and culture. World-class caliber dance instructors will headline the event, offering lessons that local dancers typically must travel to cities like New York or San Francisco to find. Among the reknown instructors are Magna Gopal, Cristian Oviedo, Alien Ramirez, Fusion Salsera, Elegant Rumba, Salsa y Control and Erica Caliente.
At 8pm Saturday night be ready to party all night long when Harborside transforms into a Latin Dance Nightclub with celebrity performances and competition finale, followed by a world class dance party until 2 a.m. Guests will be in for a real treat when star studded celebrity dancers from all over the globe take over the dance floor to entertain and show off their award winning moves, as well as, mingle and dance with guests. Admission is only $45 to attend the evening Gala. The weekend long event concludes with an outdoor dance party Sunday on Fort Myers Beach.
