Autism in Action© Completes Shoot for “The Balancing Act” on Lifetime TV

(Pompano Beach, FL – April 9, 2012) Autism in Action© recently completed their shoot for the hit morning TV show “The Balancing Act.”  The segment, which features Dr. Beverly Braman and Dr. Susan Catlett from Autism Consultation & Education, Inc., and Dr. Dan Domenesch, Executive Director of the American Association of School Administrators, will air as part of the show’s “Parent Teacher Corner” series in April on Lifetime Television.

Research shows that 1 in 88 children are born showing traits of the autism spectrum, and those numbers are on the rise.  Braman and Catlett, co-founders of Autism in Action© join “The Balancing Act” to introduce viewers to an educational model called applied behavior analysis (ABA) which both parents and educators can use.  Domenesch will inform viewers on what behaviors to look for that may signal the need for a child to be evaluated for autism.

During the segment, viewers will learn how people with autism frequently experience problems interpreting the environment, making ABA an ideal match for learning.  In ABA, the learning process is broken down into small pieces that can be repeated and reinforced. Over time, these pieces are chained together to build important skills and develop more socially appropriate behaviors.

“Autism in Action is thrilled to be invited to ‘The Balancing Act’ on Lifetime Television for Autism Awareness month in April 2012!  What an exciting opportunity to reach out to parents, teachers, and others committed to helping every child with autism succeed at home, at school, and in their community,” say Braman and Catlett.
