The firms’ respective owners, Nyasia Bowen and Nadia Mathews, are seeking to secure donations from jewelers, new or unworn designer shoes and accessories as well as in-kind donations for the auction. Mrs. Bowen’s diagnosis of diabetes has raised her awareness of the disease and spurred her commitment to help find a cure. The business owners hope to raise awareness about Type 1 diabetes and how to help children stricken with the disease through the Heeling Diabetes event. With over 40 new cases diagnosed in children each day, help is desperately needed.
