The JumpStart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act signed by President Barack Obama last Thursday has a section that requires the SEC to complete the modification no later than 90 days from the Act's enactment.

Currently, the site only accepts funding request advertisements from international businesses. The site will post general advertising and general solicitations from U.S. businesses beginning July 5, 2012, when businesses will be able to place news announcements, (also called “IRs”), on the site that they are seeking investors. InvestRelease will also give businesses an advertising medium to assist with their crowdfunding campaigns next year.
