PRLog - April 8, 2012 - KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A unique musical collaboration has come together after American songwriter Kelly Myers receives a condolence of her mother's passing from Congolese pop singer, Jose Hendrix on Facebook. A year later, the songwriting duo has launched a world pop CD, Jose Hendrix - Embrace The Earth and gained the attention of Grammy award winning Macy Gray producer, Darryl Swann. Songs from the CD were written by Kelly Myers in Kansas City and sent via Internet to Jose in Africa where Jose re-recorded songs in D.R. Congo. Their inventive idea to record American born pop songs in Congo by African musicians has landed every song from thier CD on Broadjam's Latin-Rock Top 10 chart. Myers adds lines in Spanish and in French to her songs for broader appeal. To see video of Jose performing live at our 2011 Annual Benefit Concert, go here. http://www.youtube.com/

Myers said, " I had a feeling people would enjoy our music that blends American made pop songs with African-Latin rumba-influenced music from Congo. The energy lights up a dance floor. I wanted my American songs to be turned into world songs. Jose Hendrix is an amazing musical talent. I have put my full portfolio of songs in Jose's hands".
Some tracks from Embrace The Earth have an island feel, like When It Feels or a Latin-rock feel, like Walk To Me. Kiando is world dance. Jose's signature mouth percussion and recognizeable vocals ground each song from track to track. Some listeners say Jose Hendrix vocals resemble those of Michael Jackson.
Jose Hendrix is in the United States for an 8-week gig and media tour that will culminate in the songwriting duo's Second Annual Benefit Concert for Congo on May 24th at Californos Westport, KC.. The project seeks to build a performing arts center in Kinshasa. For more on KC2Congo and the Jose Hendrix - Kelly Myers collaboration, go to www.josehendrix.com.
