"I am honored to have been selected for this award and very pleased to have received in 2012, the 100th Anniversary of Girl Scouts," stated Susan M. Brooks, CEO, Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey. "Our mission of creating a leadership experience for girls that will give them the courage, confidence, and character to be our future leaders strongly aligns with the mission of Garden State Woman." The Annual Garden State Woman of the Year program, organized by Garden State Woman in 2005, recognizes truly remarkable New Jersey women and organizations committed to supporting women's efforts to grow and excel. The women selected demonstrate exceptional leadership in their chosen professional lives, have a commitment of making a difference in the lives of others through their community service, and serve as inspirational role models for other women striving to improve their life and the lives of others.
Susan has served as the CEO for GSHNJ since 2008. In addition to her council accountabilities, she serves on the national Girl Scout Cookie Program Task Group and the national CES Steering Committee for Girl Scouts of the USA. Susan has been instrumental in building a high-capacity council that is delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to girls in Hunterdon, Somerset, Union, Essex, Hudson, and portions of Warren and Middlesex counties.
