Bruno Mancari, new Director of Development for the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry, has made a career change from sales to development, but the skill set he developed as a salesperson is exactly what he will use to raise funds and friends for the College.
Mancari spent 19 years in automotive sales, seven of which with an independent auto brokerage firm he founded. He also had previously performed fundraising for several schools and a baseball league.
At the College, Mancari’s goals are to help “support, sustain, and nurture relationships with alumni and faculty and to further those relationships with the goal of bringing the College into the future,” he said.
“In raising gifts for the College, I hope to give back to the community as the College does,” he explained. “The College provides excellent oral healthcare services to some of our communities’
“I want to develop relationships with the faculty,” Mancari noted. “The faculty are critical to our success, as not only do they provide gifts, but they make the experience of the students here at the College a good one so that when we call upon them after they become alumni, they’ll be generous.”
Mancari reports to Assistant Dean for Advancement and Alumni Affairs Mark J. Valentino.
Although Mancari arrives after the success completion of the Brilliant Futures: Educating a New Dentist for America campaign, he will very quickly be involved in a new capital campaign to help complete the Integrated Clinical Technology Center.
“The College’s Advancement team and Dean Bruce Graham are excited to have Bruno on board,” said Assistant Dean for Advancement and Alumni Affairs Mark J. Valentino. “We exceeded the $35 million goal of the Brilliant Futures Campaign by securing gifts of more than $37 million. Yet, we need to raise an additional $6 million to complete the renovation of our clinical facilities.
“Bruno will play a critical role in the new campaign,” Valentino added. “He will engage with both UIC and Loyola University of Chicago dental alumni, as well as graduates from Northwestern’
Mancari holds a BA from Loyola University Chicago.
