We recently launched some major changes to the site that we’re really excited about. The new categorizer and Hotness Engine have made our deals that much easier to navigate, and the look and user experience on the site have improved significantly.
But why did we make these changes you ask? We found that our long list of deals wasn’t working for many users, as there were so many hot deals to sort through. The new categorizer allows users to find specific types of deals faster and with ease, tagging the deals with keywords and grouping them into categories and sub-categories.
We’re also extremely proud of the new Hotness Engine, which ranks deals on a number of “deal quality” variables and moves higher quality deals to the top of the page, allowing users to see the hottest deals that everybody’s talking about. This engine was created by our crack team of Super Math Wizards, grinding away in our underground laboratory – without food, sleep or Angry Birds – developing hyper-complicated algorithms to help put the best deals and deals that you want in front of you. The end result should be that users will be presented with highly relevant deals, with time to snap them up.
Also new: our Huge Map, which we think you’ll agree is awesome. mydealbag now offers users the option to browse deals geographically, so you can find that sweet Tootsie Pop deal around the corner from Aunt Marla’s house. The map will be developed more and more in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for enhancements and more deals popping up on the map in your area.
Lastly, it’s no secret: #hashtags #are #awesome. Our new Hashtag system will tag deals with keywords, making it easier to navigate to deals of similar types, with Hotness tags, category tags, and deal site tags.
