LifeTree Adventures Inviting YOU to Go to Cuba

In Cuba things are scarce and poverty is everywhere you look. Lifetree Adventures, a Colorado-based comprehensive short-term mission planning ministry, has just announced plans for a week-long mission trip to Cuba beginning June 9, 2012.

April 5, 2012 - PRLog -- Mission trips change hearts and lives - offering participants a faith-based opportunity to see life outside of America and do something good at the same time.

Cuba is a difficult place to be a Christian; however, the church today is alive and growing. It has not always been this way. Since Fidel Castro's 1959 revolution, Cuba has oppressed Christianity. Many church leaders were jailed, and church meetings were infiltrated. Through those dark years, very few people would admit to being Christians for fear of the repercussions. The discussion of faith was rare in public, but now things are beginning to change.

Pope Benedict XVI recently went to Cuba and according to news reports, as soon as this visit was confirmed publicly by the Vatican, President Raul Castro promised to release 2,900 prisoners. The move was seen as a humanitarian gesture and some have already been released. Evangelical Christians, who have lived with limitations and restriction for years are already seeing benefits of this impending visit and hoping to see new freedoms for the Cuban church.

The fact that it is no longer a closed country has allowed for missions to come in and bring many thousands of Cubans to faith. Life-changing opportunities do not come around every day, so now is a great time to help! With an itinerary designed to be a full-immersion experience, participants serving on this Christian mission trip will be bringing needed supplies to the Cuban people, as well as worshipping with and serving the Cubans living in Old Havana. Departing from the Fort Lauderdale Airport on June 9th, members will also serve in a convent that provides assistance to both needy children and the elderly.

“I have had the opportunity to travel to Cuba and provide training to ministry friends,” said Lifetree Adventures spokesman Dave Thornton, “and have seen first-hand the challenges they (the Cuban people) face. I know you’ll be fascinated with the culture and fall in love with the people just as I have. But more importantly you will have a life-changing experience as you serve them. ”

In addition to serving in Old Havana, those participating will also have the chance to experience the rich cultural and architectural styles of Cuba through a city tour of Havana. Staying in a beautiful four-star hotel in Havana (double occupancy), participants will be offered breakfast in the hotel each morning, lunch at a restaurant near the project, and three group dinners in various Havana restaurants. In addition, those making the Cuban trip will be given ample opportunity to explore Havana and have four dinners on their own.

Specializing in trips that bring hope and joy to those who need it most, Lifetree Adventures is well-recognized in the area of short-term missions. A division of Group Workcamps Foundation, this leading non-profit mission organization offers Christian service trips for old and young alike. With over 30 years of planning experience to glean from, they have organized trips for groups all over the world and have successfully taken over 300,000 eager-to-serve participants into those areas where their help is most needed.
