The Ski Bum Announces Availability of New Bikila Line of Vibram Five Fingers Shoes

The Vibram Bikila line appeals to a wide range of people, from minimalist runners to individuals who want all of the benefits of walking or running in bare feet, but with added protection from rough, sharp, wet or slippery surfaces, and extreme temperatures.

The Bikila model is an innovative new running shoe design for both men and women, and is the first line of Vibram Five Fingers shoes that has been created specifically to allow the forefoot strike to occur in a natural, more efficient, and healthier way.  Though the Vibram Five Fingers shoes have been popular among many runners for years, it is this most recent model that is the very first to be designed with the express purpose of creating a running experience that is more natural for the foot, and therefore the rest of the body.

The line was based on a completely new platform which features a layer of Dri-Lex, which has a 3mm thick polyurethane insole covering (which is at its thickest point under the ball of the foot), as well as an additional anatomical pod outsole design that is 4mm thick and offers an additional protective underfoot plating.  It is also meant to distribute the impact of the forefoot without sacrificing the important feedback provided by the ground to the foot, and which is critical to maintaining a proper strike of the forefoot in the running form.  The Bikila Five Fingers shoe also features additional padding in its topline and collar, surfaces made from reflective 3M, a closure made out of one hook-and-loop, and special toe protection made from tear-resistant TPU.  

As a Vibram Five Fingers shoe model, the Bikila still conforms to the shape of the foot and has individual pockets for each toe.
