Dollars & Sense gives listeners a chance to call in to get financial advice. According to Freedman, “Listeners get a chance to pull back the curtain, ask tough questions and learn about what really goes on in a financial planner’s office, so that they can make more informed decisions for themselves and their families.”
Freedman said that he and colleague Marion Gilman are pleased with the reception they have received so far, adding, “One Sunday we were actually competing against the Patriots and still received calls.” Presently, the two financial planners see the show focusing on financial planning topics as opposed to investment ideas.
Marc Freedman is a second generation planner; in 1991, he joined the firm that his father, Barry Freedman, started in 1968. When Mr. Freedman retired in 1997, Marc took over the firm. Freedman Financial Associates serves the needs of individuals and families on the North Shore or who have connections to that region. The firm has been a member of FPA of MA since its inception. “Our goal is to educate the public on the difference between financial advice and financial planning services,” he said, adding, “Ours is different from other shows and we encourage people to listen and call in with questions.”
Freedman Financial Associates, Inc. is located at 8 Essex Center Drive, Peabody, MA. (978) 531-8108.
John P. Napolitano, President of the FPA of MA, said, “This is great that Marc and Marion have taken this step to provide critical awareness and education to the public about the role of financial planning. We are very pleased that their show has gotten off to such a great start and we wish them much continued success.”
