NAFA's 2012 I&E features two keynote presentations centered on the topic of the future. On Sunday, April 22, Dr. Peter Bishop, who specializes in techniques for long-term forecasting and planning, presents "Making Sense of the Future: A Journey Into Future Time." During this presentation, Dr. Bishop will serve as a guide, helping attendees see their planet – home to six billion people – as they've never seen it before. He will paint vivid pictures of past, present, and future technology and explain how it has swept away everything in its path.
Dr. Bishop, an Associate Professor of Human Sciences and Chair of the graduate program in Studies of the Future at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, believes that knowing what to expect from the future allows one to become confident and even excited about the prospect of a new and challenging unknown.
On Monday, April 23, Jim Kenzie – Canada's leading automotive journalist – returns to NAFA's annual conference. Kenzie's presentation, "The Future of Cars, And The People Who Drive Them," will discuss safety advancements in vehicles and roadway design. According to Kenzie, traffic safety has always been a three-legged stool consisting of the car, the road, and the driver. While he doesn't pretend to have a crystal ball to predict the future, Kenzie will present interesting and sometimes provocative ideas.
Kenzie, who was last seen at NAFA's annual conference during the Association's 2003 conference in Philadelphia, has served as the Chief Auto Review for the Toronto Star's Wheels section since 1986. In addition to maintaining a blog for the newspaper, Kenzie has a regular segment on TSN's "Motoring," Canada's most watched automotive television program.
NAFA's annual Institute & Expo is the fleet management industry event of the year. The Association is proud to feature these two keynote speakers within a 4-day program that includes over 60 educational sessions, a sold-out expo floor with more than 250 exhibitors, and networking among fleet professionals from every segment of the industry.
