April 4, 2012 - PRLog -- Human resources, labor relations and employment law professionals at hotels, resorts, restaurants, airlines and other sectors of the hospitality industry came together for the 6th Annual National HR in Hospitality Conference & Expo, February 27 - 29, 2012 at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco, to learn proven strategies from top industry experts, network with colleagues, discuss effective solutions to challenges and much more.

Attendees gained professional knowledge from top HR leaders such as Chip Conley, Founder of Joie de Vivre Hospitality Company. Conley kicked off the 6th annual conference with his session “Leadership in the 21st Century,” where he shared the impact of employee satisfaction on corporate profitability.

“It’s HR’s job to help convince the senior leadership why culture change will have a positive impact on profitability,” said Conley. “It’s proven that employee happiness actually has a major impact on performance.”

Over 300 human resources, labor relations, and employment law professionals attended six plenaries and selected from 16 sessions offering insights from industry heavyweights including: Niki Leondakis, President and Chief Operating Officer of Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants; Doug Patrick, SVP Human Resources of Hyatt Hotels; Greg Smith, EVP Human Resources of Denihan Hospitality Group; and many more.

“We always aim to create sessions that offer solutions to the challenges everyone in the industry faces,” said JoAnne Kruse, HR in Hospitality Conference Chair. “This year the conference explored a wide range of topics including union organizing, social media, current case law, DOL audits, talent development and more.”

Between sessions attendees explored the Expo Hall, discovering what vendors had to offer and enjoying valuable opportunities to network with speakers and colleagues. This year’s Expo featured more than 30 exhibitors including Achievers, Hcareers, Target Corporate Gift cards and others.

Conference organizers, national experts, thought leaders, attorneys and senior faculty from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration and Cornell University ILR School are already planning the 2013 program, scheduled for February 25 - 27, 2013 at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas.

HR in Hospitality 2012 was endorsed by the American Hotel & Lodging Association, and sponsored by Hcareers (Platinum); HCpartners (Gold); Stokes, Roberts & Wagner; Council of Hotel and Restaurant Trainers.

“For the 2013 program we will expand the variety of sessions and workshops offered and make the program even more interactive,” said JoAnne Kruse, HR in Hospitality Conference Chair. “We are aware that the industry changes constantly, which is why we provide a fresh, yet quality program that proves to be effective to each HR professional.”
