April 4, 2012 - PRLog -- Long Beach, NY --  American Pop Art, Inc. of Long Beach, NY, a virtual art gallery at www.americanpopartinc.com exclusively dedicated to Steve Kaufman art, is proud to announce its contributions to the 2012 Long Beach Lion’s Club Golf Classic.  This event, scheduled for Monday, August 13, 2012 at North Hempstead Country Club in Port Washington, NY, will benefit the Champions of the Heart Fund at St. Francis Hospital, The Guide Dog Foundation, and other local charities.

The 2012 Long Beach Lion’s Club Golf Classic will honor WFAN’s Mike Francesa and "Lion" Billy Romm of Billy's Beach Café in Long Beach.  American Pop Art, Inc. contributions for this year’s event include a Steve Kaufman painting of Albert Einstein, and Steve Kaufman’s Coffee Table book that contains his full biography and photos of his art.

“Steve Kaufman showed me the importance of giving back, and in this spirit, I want to do the same,” said Diana Vachier of Long Beach, NY, who had worked with the late artist since 2001.  “Steve Kaufman’s Albert Einstein piece is a classic. We want people to pause for a moment, THINK, then give from the heart.”

Former assistant to Andy Warhol, Steve Kaufman is remembered as a charismatic American pop artist and a generous humanitarian.  His subjects included iconic brands and many famous people including Marilyn Monroe, Mozart, Beethoven, and Mohammad Ali.  February 12, 2012 marked the 2-year anniversary of the popular artist’s death.

In Steve Kaufman’s memory and tradition of helping people in need, twenty percent of proceeds from the American Pop Art Inc. web site Charity Art page at www.americanpopartinc.com/charity will go to a charity of the buyer’s choice.

In February 2012, American Pop Art, Inc. announced its new initiative to benefit S.T.R.O.N.G. Youth, Inc., a gang prevention and intervention agency based in Uniondale, Long Island.  Ten percent of sales from the American Pop Art, Inc. virtual gallery will go to S.T.R.O.N.G. Youth, Inc. programs, which include workshops, community partnerships, gang hot spot location services, and a rehabilitative employment program.  In his lifetime, Steve Kaufman launched and operated the “Give Kids a Break Fund,” which aided more than 1,000 troubled youth over a period of about 15 years.

“We are very honored and grateful,” said Rahsmia Zatar, Executive Director/Social Worker at STRONG Youth, Inc., about the donations made to S.T.R.O.N.G. Youth, Inc. from art sales.

In March 2012, American Pop Art, Inc. launched its new online blog at www.stevekaufmanart.wordpress.com, featuring paintings by the late American pop artist Steve Alan Kaufman (a.k.a. SAK), discussions about today’s modern art, and plans to spotlight youthful artist talent from local Nassau and Suffolk counties.
