Charles Miano, artist and educator, and President of the Southern Atelier Fine Arts Center in Sarasota, will judge the artwork in the exhibit. Awards will also be presented by Sanibel Mayor Kevin Ruane, who will be giving a “Mayor’s Choice” award, and by Erick Lindblad, Executive Director of The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation. Members of the Shell Islands Garden Club will display floral arrangements in keeping with the show’s theme, “Touch of Red.” The public is invited to vote in a “People’s Choice” award.
The competition draws from members of the Art Council of Southwest Florida, which includes more than 4,000 artists from 16 area art organizations. This year’s exhibit highlights the use of the color red, and will feature original works in watercolor, oil, acrylic, mixed media, collage, sculpture and original prints. All work is for sale.
