Southern Circuit Independent Film Series Concludes with “Lunch Line”
The Chattanooga Film Society (CFS) is concluding its presentation of the Southern Circuit independent film series on Monday, April 16th with a screening of Lunch Line at Loose Cannon Parties & Events, at 1800 Rossville Avenue, in Chattanooga's south side. The film follows six kids from one of the toughest neighborhoods in Chicago as they set out to fix school lunch — and end up at the White House. The film tracks the behind-the-scenes details of school lunch and childhood hunger from key moments in the 1940s, 1960s, and 1980s to the present, revealing political twists, surprising alliances, and more common ground than people might realize.
Director Michael Graziano will be in attendance for a “meet and greet” session prior to the screening, which will open to ticket holders beginning at 6:30 P.M. The film will begin at 7:00 P.M. followed by a panel discussion with Mr. Graziano and local food advocates who will respond to questions and comments from the audience.
“The film deals with a very timely and relevant topic, one that engages an audience and prompts active community dialogue,” says CFS President Dave Porfiri. “The film helps fulfill our organization's goal of elevating film to more than just mere entertainment. You're not going to see a film like this at the suburban multi-plex screening in-between superhero films.”
Tickets are available to anyone for $10 at the door and can be purchased online prior to the event at www.chattanoogafilmsociety.org/southerncircuit. Discounted tickets are also available to current CFS members. Group discounts of 10 or more are also available.
The Chattanooga Film Society is a non-profit organization that supports independent
filmmaking locally, promotes professional film and television production across the region, coordinates local film education efforts and is currently working on the launch of a major film festival in downtown Chattanooga.
