YottaStor Announces Immediate Availability of YottaDrive™

April 3, 2012 - PRLog -- The YottaDrive is the first cloud-based Big Data solution on the SEWP IV contract providing a revolutionary Storage as a Service offering.  SEWP IV is used by more than 70 federal government agencies, supporting over 10,000 customers with annual contract purchases exceeding $3 billion making SEWP IV one of the premier technology acquisition contract vehicles used by the federal government.

The YottaDrive is YottaStor’s first product in the growing Enterprise Thumb Drive storage segment.  The YottaDrive is designed using proven, state-of-the-art components to deliver instant enterprise storage capacity that literally “plugs in” to the customer’s network providing immediate mass storage.  The current configurations available on the SEWP IV contract are for 2.5PB, 5.0PB and 10.0PB of usable storage can be delivered in either a self-contained mobile data center container or in standard racks placed in the traditional data center.  In addition, each configuration comes with a pre-configured cloud environment delivering 504 vCores, 1008 vCores and 1536 vCores respectively.  The components are connected to a high-speed backbone network delivering 40GigE capacity with 2x10GigE connections to each storage node.  The YottaDrive is delivered fully integrated, tested and operational with lead times of only 6-9 weeks.

The YottaDrive is purchased using a cloud based model allowing customers to pay for the storage capacity on a monthly per GB basis.  For the 2.5PB solution the cost is $0.08/GB/month, for the 5.0PB solution the cost is $0.05/GB/month and for the 10.0PB solution the cost is $0.045/GB/month.  

The YottaDrive provides a solution for the fastest growing part of the Big Data challenge at price points that are superior to the public storage cloud offerings yet delivers the enhanced data security by being located behind the customer’s firewall.  “We have been working on this solution for a couple of years in anticipation of our customers needing to periodically acquire massive storage to support their Big Data business requirements” according to Bob Carlson, CTO YottaStor.  “The architectures, packaging and technology are similar to those that allow leading public clouds providers like Amazon to achieve their published price points but, with YottaDrive, our customers have the ability to keep their data secure, behind their firewall.”
