PRLog - April 3, 2012 - ATLANTA -- Birmingham, AL (March 29, 2012) – Payton Overton of Birmingham, AL is preparing for his wish to attend one of sports entertainment’s biggest events, WrestleMania XVIII, thanks to the Georgia and Alabama Chapter of Make-A-Wish and WWE.

Payton, 11, will enjoy a full weekend of wish activities in Miami with his family, capped by attending WrestleMania XVIII on April 1, at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, FL.  Payton is one of 40 wish kids whose wishes to attend WrestleMania are being granted by WWE and Make-A-Wish.

In addition to experiencing the excitement of WrestleMania, Payton will have exclusive opportunities to meet WWE Superstars and Divas, along with other celebrities:

•   Friday, March 30  – A private autograph session with WWE Superstars and Divas
•   Saturday, March 31 – Circle of Champions Pizza Party with WWE Superstar and Wish  Ambassador John Cena® at Jungle Island
•   Sunday, April 1–  Wrestlemania Axxess at the Miami Beach Convention Center and WrestleMania XVIII at Sun Life Stadium

“It’s fitting for WWE and the Make-A-Wish Foundation to put on the biggest wish-granting celebration each year at WrestleMania,” said Sue Aitchison, Director, Community Relations, WWE. “The weekend will be full of surprises for the wish kids and their families. These wishes undoubtedly will bring the kids plenty of joy and help the families spend much-needed time together away from hospitals and medical treatments.”

For 30 years, WWE has been one of Make-A-Wish’s most dedicated wish granters, fulfilling hundreds of children’s wishes to meet its Superstars and Divas and attend major events such as WrestleMania. WWE also has a multi-year commitment to support
Make-A-Wish and its wish-granting activities throughout the year.

“Payton is thrilled about attending WrestleMania,” said John Brennan, CEO of Make-A-Wish Georgia and Alabama. “WWE has helped grant the wishes of so many courageous children with life-threatening medical conditions, who return energized and delighted by the experience. We are fortunate to have a dedicated supporter like WWE to bring these children hope, strength and joy as they face a difficult challenge in their young lives.”

About Make-A-Wish
Make-A-Wish Georgia and Alabama is the local chapter of the national Make-A-Wish network.  We grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.  According to a 2011 study of wish impact, most health professionals surveyed say that a wish come true can affect a child’s health outcomes. Kids say wishes give them renewed strength to fight their illness, and their parents say these experiences strengthen the entire family.  We have granted over 5,000 wishes locally, and seek to grant 450 wishes this year.  To learn more about Make-A-Wish, visit us at www.ga-al.wish.org and discover how you can share the power of a wish®.
