Surprising New Venture For Popular TV Angler

Professional angler, Alex Suescun, announces his jump to a new arena where the rod and reel are not the main tools of the trade. Alex is now an artist!

PRLog - Apr. 2, 2012 - Miami, FL –

Alex Suescun, former pro tournament angler and popular TV fishing show host, has embarked on a surprising new venture that is sure to raise some eyebrows; he is making the jump to the world of marine and wildlife art.

To that effect the pro angler turned artist just announced the launch of his new website: fishandgameart.com, where visitors can browse through dozens of giclées depicting a variety of sportfishing and outdoor scenes. “Illustrating the beauty and excitement of the amazing encounters with fish and wildlife I’ve been privy to over the years has been a hobby of mine for some time, and I finally decided to share my art with the public,” said Suescun.

Since his style differs from that of many other marine artists, and the new art venture is quite a departure from TV fishing shows and redfish tournaments, Alex wasn’t sure how people would react when he first put his art on display at a couple of events earlier this year. Fortunately the response has been terrific. “People really seem to like my stuff, and so far the sales have been very encouraging,” Suescun explained.

With only a couple of exceptions, every piece on the website is available for purchase. And from tarpon to sailfish, from redfish to bass, and even freshwater trout to salmon, all the popular gamefish species are featured, along with some marine birds and other Florida fauna.

Online buyers will find the selection and purchasing process very easy, mentioned Alex. “I wanted to simplify and speed up the process for people, so once you’ve chosen the scene you like best, you can have the giclée custom printed on canvas or fine art paper in any of several size options, and you can even add custom matting and framing to your order. That way you get artwork that’s ready to hang on your wall.”

Fans of marine art and Alex Suescun may soon get a chance to see both in person, as he will be adding a few more shows to his 2012 schedule. “I’ll have a booth at the Florida Sportsman Expos in Tampa and West Palm Beach, and I’m also working on a couple of art shows. But they will all take place after tarpon season, we all have our priorities.”

Thanks to the internet’s reach and to the power of social media, Alex’s art is quickly gaining exposure, and a couple of galleries have already expressed some interest. For the moment a number of his favorite pieces remain on display at Orlando Outfitters (2814 Corrine Drive, Orlando, FL 32803 Ph: 407-896-8220).

About the artist:
Alex Suescun grew up in South Florida, where he developed his passion for fishing, a passion that he managed to turn into a career that spans more than 2 decades largely spent chasing after gamefish with a fishing rod and a camera through Latin America, the Caribbean, and the gulf and south Atlantic coasts of the U.S.

During that time Alex has worn many different hats and compiled an impressive resume that includes stints as assistant editor at Saltwater Fly Fishing magazine, and columnist for Florida Sportsman. But most people associate Suescun with the Redfish Cup (a saltwater tournament series that aired on ESPN from 2003 to 2009), and with Tarpon Bay Tales, the TV fishing show that he hosted and produced for 10 seasons.
