Follow on Google News | The Everglades are a strong boost to the KeysVisitors to Everglades National Park spent more than $136 million in the park and surrounding areas in 2010, supporting some 1,956 jobs.

But the recent Everglades National Park visitor survey does provide clues about the dovetail between the two areas. Among the 527 people who responded to the questionnaire, "If you stayed outside the park, in what town/city did you and your group stay," 92, or almost 20 percent, indicated the Keys. The Everglades survey also showed that there is a symbiotic relationship between the Keys and the park. While 25 percent of the respondents among winter tourists said they came to South Florida primarily to see Everglades National Park, 15 percent said, they were drawn by the Keys.
