WEX Latina Releases ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section IX in Spanish

(March 12, 2012) — WEX Latina, a leading organization providing commercial and industrial solutions in welding, has launched a new publication for engineering professionals in Spanish. As an accurate translation of the bestselling code by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section IX in Spanish defines general welding and brazing requirements and further outlines welding performance and brazing procedure qualifications. Tables and figures containing welding and brazing data from the original English version have been reproduced, and included is the addenda from 2008 and 2009 detailing excerpts that have been added or replaced and materials that have been affected.
“This is an authorized translation of one of the most important welding codes in the world,” says Product Manager Gabriel Suarez. Suarez adds that its significance to the professional engineering community is based on the information it contains for the welding of pressure boilers, which are used for gas, oil, steam, water, and coal systems. The code serves to increase the safety of equipment used in manufacturing and construction and enhance overall public safety.
Engineering professionals in Chile and Panama have already purchased the code, which has been partially or fully adopted by the United States and its off-shore territories, and by the provinces of Canada.
The translated ASME code is available for purchase on the WEX Latina website, which offers additional translations of accepted welding practices including the American Welding Society (AWS) D1.1/D1.1M:2010 Structural Welding Code—Steel.
