Amazon Kindle Royalties Shared With INDIE Bookstores.
Independent bookstores now profit from Kindle downloads
Sanibel, FL – April 1, 2012 –
Amazon now pays authors 70% of $2.99 per ebook and only 35% for each 99 cent ebook downloaded. Authors want to sell at the $2.99 pricing but are afraid their sales volume will drop. The solution, which allows every entity to profit, is for the author to sell at $2.99 and pay the local bookstore $1 after Amazon makes its profit and pays the author. The author pockets $1.09 per ebook after paying $1 to the local bookstore or library. Amazon makes full profit of 30%, or 90 cents, and the publishers are happy since this arrangement makes independent bookstores more profitable and allows everyone to share in Kindle download profits.
The author is not an Amazon affiliate and can donate the money to the local bookstore or library. An author can now sell through amazon AND collect the customer’s email address.
How does it work? Each Amazon Kindle customer who wishes to ‘Support A Local Bookstore’ or library simply logs on to amazon.com and buys an ebook. Amazon processes the customer’s order and emails a ‘Shipping Confirmation’ within a few minutes. The customer simply clicks FORWARD, types in their local bookstore or library’s name in the subject line, and sends the email to the author. The author simply pays the bookstore utilizing paypal.com. If enough donations flood into the bookstore common sense dictates the bookstore will purchase paperback copies to support the author. The author will discount each paperback 50% so each bookstore can make increased profit or be more competitive. The author will pay each bookstore $3 per paperback ordered through Amazon if a ‘Shipping Confirmation’ is received.
The above marketing plan offers every participant a winning scenario. Amazon makes sales at full profit. Independent bookstores make $3 or $1 per sale produced by an Amazon customer who wishes to support a local bookstore or the bookstore sells the customer and makes 50%. Authors sell more books, and increase their distribution and profits. Publishers approve since their bookstore sales outlets increase profits.
