FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Apr. 2, 2012 - General Motors India has registered a growth of 13 percent in March 2012, compared to the corresponding period in 2011. The US car maker sold 10,588 vehicles in March 2012 as against 9,391 units in March 2011. The growth was primarily driven by the much sought after Chevrolet Beat and the Chevrolet Tavera.

While Chevrolet Beat recorded its highest sales since its launch, Chevrolet Tavera crossed the 2,000 mark again after five years. The March 2012 sales comprised of 5638 units of Chevrolet Beat, 2075 units of Chevrolet Tavera, 107 units of Chevrolet Aveo, 123 units of Chevrolet Optra, 44 units of Chevrolet Captiva, 722 units of Chevrolet Cruze and 1879 units of Chevrolet Spark.

Commenting on the performance, P Balendran, Vice President, General Motors India, said: “The great demand for the Beat and Tavera has boosted our performance in March. The growth was primarily driven by India’s most fuel efficient vehicle, Chevrolet Beat Diesel. While the Tavera has performed phenomenally, we hope the new Chevrolet Tavera Neo 3 BS IV, launched recently in 13 cities, will further strengthen the performance. Our vehicles demonstrate our commitment to fully leverage our resources in India to offer customers new products that meet their unique needs".

General Motors India has completed 16 years of operation in India. It started its journey in 1996 and now offers products under the Chevrolet brand, which was introduced in India in 2003. Founded in Detroit in 1911, Chevrolet celebrated its centennial as a global automotive brand in November 2011. Last year, about 4.76 million Chevrolets were sold in more than 140 countries, or one every 6.65 seconds.  Chevrolet, one of the fastest growing automotive nameplates in India, provides consumers with fuel-efficient, safe and reliable vehicles that deliver high quality, expressive design, spirited performance and value.
