Dr. Majid Naini was chosen from among all of the Rumi scholars in the U.S. by celebrated American composer Shawn Crouch (http://shawncrouchmusic.com/)
to collaborate on a new musical work, “The Garden of Paradise.” Award-winning American composer Shawn Crouch's new work, The Garden of Paradise, will be performed once again by the Grammy award winning Chanticleer group. Chanticleer performed this piece as part of their "Composer/Our Age" program in Berkeley, Santa Clara, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Minnesota, etc. last year, and is now performing the piece again in a special program about peace in San Francisco and Berkeley, CA. The piece is based on the poems of poet Brian Turner, an Iraq war veteran, whose moving accounts of the war are set along side the poetry of the Persian poet Rumi, as selected from among 80,000 lines of poetry and translated by the renowned Rumi scholar, Professor Majid M. Naini. Dr. has Naini selected some of the most beautiful of Rumi’s poetry about love and peace for this piece. http://www.chanticleer.org/what-do-you-think-i-fought-for/
