Association for Manufacturing Excellence Leans on REMCON Plastics for On Site Event

April 2, 2012 - PRLog -- Reading, PA–Leading rotational molder REMCON Plastics was recently honored to host a special lean manufacturing event for the Association of Manufacturing Excellence members.

According to COO Rich Maguire, he had resisted repeated requests from AME’s Drew Locher because he hadn’t felt ready for the scrutiny. But after Drew finished formal A3 training for REMCON’s top people, Rich relented. He wanted his people to know the commitment was real and felt his people were ready for the challenge.

Visitors saw the continuous improvement process in action on the shop floor and in the offices. Throughout the day attendees had access to people from the production floor up to the executive suite.

The highlight of the tour was the huge visuals in REMCON’s A3 War Room supporting the problem solving process at the heart of the REMCON Performance System.  

In the afternoon session of the workshop attendees were coached by REMCON instructors to solve one of their most pressing problems. By the end of the day they had developed a plan of their own and an appreciation of the discipline it takes to sustain a Lean Manufacturing culture.

Attendees rewarded REMCON with a 94% event rating with their lean culture and the A3 war Room taking top honors.
