Friday is always a busy day in town as shoppers pick up their weekend supplies from the wonderful independent retailers or enjoy the coffee shops, tea rooms and restaurants. Many of the town’s award-winning businesses were also represented in the market, with a wide selection of produce from local companies such as Evans Butchers, Feast Fine Catering, Merricks Farm and McSorsons’ fish stall. The food for sale was local and everyone was able to sample pies, pasties, stews, patés, cheese, fudge, apple juice, cider, wine, cupcakes as well as admire the Somerset photographs, wood turned bowls, jewellery and intricate patchworks that were for sale.
A very generous selection of items gifted by the stall holders was raffled at the end of the morning and one lucky recipient scooped the lot.
The next market will be held on 8th June from 9.30 until 13.30 hours and the town is looking forward to an even greater selection of local producers and traders. Working closely with Langport Town Council, the market will be held again on Parrett Close with free car parking.
