SAN DIEGO BOCA FC
Teams in Southern California that already automatically qualifified are the LA Galaxy (MLS), Chivas USA, Ventura County Fusion (USL) and the LA Blue (USL)
San Diego Boca FC coming off back to back wins over the Phoenix Monsoon and SD Flash eliminating those clubs from the US Open Cup qualification round with back to back wins 5-4 (OT-PK’s) and 1-0 respectively.
Assistant Coach Miguel Garcia, stated, “We are not going to be changing to many things with our lineup as so far we are getting the results we are looking for and running on all cylinders. Our defense has been tightened up and that was evident as we shut out the Flash at there place and offensively we feel we have good scoring punch from our midfielders and forwards. What’s nice is we have a deep bench and we have options across the board.
Team President Yan Skwara commented, “This is a nice US Open Cup run we are making to start the season off with the back to back wins this past weekend but Fullerton is a different team and we have to be prepared to battle hard if we are to advance. Fullerton plays a ground game like us and they have some very talented individual players so we are going to have to be at our best to win this game. I think the soccer fans in San Diego will be treated to another exciting game similar to the Phoenix home match.
Tickets for the Friday night match against the Fullerton Rangers are $8 for Adults and $5 for Youth and children under 12 are free. Tickets are available at the BOCA Soccer Store at 1919 San Diego Ave or the night of the game at Balboa Stadium on the West side of the stadium at the ticket booth.
