Investors in People Good Practice Award - Health and Wellbeing

March 29, 2012 - PRLog -- The Award covers a number of different workplace issues and Investors in People has identified five core areas: planning, supportive management, supportive culture, work life balance and evaluation.
For Investors in people the issue is not about telling people how to live their lives or additional health and safety scrutiny.  The health and wellbeing of an organisation can often be improved by understanding the weaknesses and introduced preventative measures.  
Hankinson Painting Group has a long standing commitment and embedded in the ethos of it is to ensure our staff and contractors develop healthy lifestyles and make the most of opportunities available. In his report Auditor John Spitz commented  “It was clear that Hankinson Painting Group employed like-minded people who gave equal weight to providing a good, professional service for the customers and to enjoying a fulfilling life outside the work environment.  Staff commented that they looked forward to coming to work.  They felt they were doing a worthwhile job and making a contribution for the benefit of the business and its long term viability”.
Some of the positive comments within his report that he received from members of staff included:-
“As a happy, supported team with a good caring and working environment we tend to achieve our objectives and team and individual targets”.
“Our health and safety is emphasised on numerous occasions as being the number one priority and they make sure we are issued with the correct PPE (personal protective equipment) at all times such as helmets, high visibility jackets, safety boots etc.  They even have a formal PPE Company policy”.
“The Group Chief Executive is very visible.  He often comes and sits at your desk to ask you how things are going and if there are any issues”.
“I have found Hankinson Painting Group to be a great place to work.  I have always felt my opinion has been valued”.

Group Chief Executive Stephen said “health and wellbeing is at the top of our priorities.  At the Hankinson Painting Group we believe that by getting this right it contributes directly to the performances of our people”.  He added “To have our efforts recognised with this award is significant and a reflection of the hard work that goes in”.
