Riot Act Comedy Theater Announces April Comedian Line-Up

This Month’s Schedule to Feature Hilarious National and Local Talent including Sylvia Traymore, Erin Foley and Tony Roberts

PRLog - Mar. 29, 2012 - Washington, DC – Celebrate the change of seasons with laughs and chuckles this April at Riot Act Comedy Theater. The laugh-out-loud April line-up includes a variety of special and talented stand-up comedians featuring Ray Lipowski, Tony Roberts, Erin Foley and Sylvia Traymore.
First up is one of Chicago’s premier talents, Ray Lipowski, who has been delivering his in-your-face, real style of comedy to audiences at clubs, colleges and theaters all over the world (including four tours of Europe performing for the troops). Ray is bringing his unique style of comedy to Riot Act Comedy Theater April 5-7. Lipowski has been seen on Martin Lawrence Presents “1st Amendment Stand-Up,” “Comic View,” P. Diddy’s “Bad Boys of Comedy,” “White Boyz in the Hood,” “The Funny Spot,” “Showtime at the Apollo” and Russell Simmons Presents “Live at the El Rey!”
Next on the list is comedian, actor, writer and director Tony Roberts for a special three night event April 12-14.  Roberts’ hilarious and refreshing energetic comedy style has granted him respect and created a huge demand for him on the comedy circuit. Tony’s television debut was on HBO’s “Def Comedy Jam,” followed by “Showtime at the Apollo” and BET’s “Comic View.” As an actor, Tony has toured with a major theatre play and has been cast in a sketch comedy pilot for CBS entitled, “Just Add Water.”
Stand-up comic and actress Erin Foley will grace the Riot Act stage for the first time April 19-21. Her comedic timing, wit and charm leave the crowds roaring with laughter and always wanting more. Foley has performed at the Just for Laughs/TBS Comedy Festival in Chicago and the Marshall’s Women in Comedy Festival. Not only has Erin had a successful career in comedy, but she is filming a comedy pilot for E! and has recently shot her own half hour comedy special for Comedy Central and has taped Chelsea Lately and The Kilborn File on FOX.
Join Riot Act Comedy Theater on April 26 for the Cinderella Cares Comedy for Cure Gala Event. This one night event benefiting The Cinderella Cures Foundation will bring awareness in the fight against lung cancer and will feature some of the most talented musicians and stand-up comedians coming together to raise funds to support Holy Cross Hospital and Lung Cancer Alliance. The evening will be hosted by Comcast Sports very own Chick Hernandez with performances by Tony Woods, Ian Salmon, Sarah Newell and The Kelly Bell Band.
Sylvia Traymore, master impressionist and successful author, will be headlining at Riot Act April 27-29. Originally from Washington, DC, Sylvia is a renowned African American Female Impressionist who has opened for some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry including Whitney Houston, Gladys Knight, Chaka Khan, The Temptations and Cher. Sylvia is one of the few African American women offered a position as an associate-writer for Saturday Night Live and as the result of her profound career decided to release her first book, based on her true story, entitled “Almost There, Almost…The Many Faces of Sylvia Traymore Morrison.”
