Connecticut Better Business Bureau is inviting all Connecticut high school students in their junior year to apply for the 2012 CT BBB Student Ethics Scholarship Award.
The award highlights students’ ability to illustrate and articulate high ethical standards in society and the marketplace.
“Young people understand the concept of ethical behavior from a young age,” according to Connecticut Better Business Bureau President, Paulette Scarpetti. “The Student Ethics Scholarship Award is aimed at students who put that concept into practice in their everyday lives.”
The winner of the CT BBB Student Ethics Scholarship Award receives $2,500 which may be used for school-related costs such as books, room, board and tuition. The award recognizes a secondary school student who personifies high ethical standards through leadership, personal integrity, overall academic history and as articulated in a 500-word essay.
The award’s criteria include related extracurricular work that requires leadership, community service and academic achievement, and an essay that calls upon applicants to illustrate how their qualities, principles and actions have contributed to character ethics.
The entries will be evaluated and the winner selected by an independent panel of judges.
The deadline for submitting applications is Friday, June 22, 2012. The award will be presented at Connecticut BBB’s Annual Banquet and Awards Dinner in the fall.
