HRTMS To Host Webinar Today On How To Write Effective Job Descriptions

(CRI), that they will be hosting a webinar today, Thursday, March 29th at 2pm on how to write effective job descriptions.  Guest speaker, Mary Rizzuti, Senior Consultant from Compensation Resources Inc., will share tips on how to write effective job descriptions.  Ms. Rizzuti will define the many uses and basic elements of a job description, how to construct an effective job summary, FLSA determination, issues with across-the-board titling and more.

Job descriptions, although their significance is often overlooked, are an essential part of any recruitment strategy, performance review cycle, training and learning initiative, or compensation strategy.  Job descriptions can be used to convey key responsibilities and duties of a position as well as company expectations and culture to new employees, as a guide for managers to properly evaluate employees during performance reviews, express the certification and training requirements of a position for structured and consistent training and learning management, and help facilitate pay-for-performance based compensation.  

Ms. Rizzuti will break down the basic elements of a job description from how to construct a Job Title and Job Summary to Pay Grade and FLSA determination.  She will also review the difference between exempt and non-exempt status when it comes to FLSA guidelines as well as the importance of keeping an up-to-date and accurate job description repository.

To facilitate the messages within Ms. Rizzuti’s presentation, screenshots from HRTMS Jobs will be used.  Attendees will see how HRTMS Jobs allows HR to use collaboration to get accurate information about each job, setup a structured workflow and approval process, use either their own content or content libraries such as O*Net to help identify key duties and responsibilities, and store historical versions of each job.
